Legends Basketball Team to Rejoin SKABA League

Molineaux, Newton Ground and Strivers are among teams expected to make their return to the tournament, but one of the most anticipated re-entries is the Legends Basketball Team.

The Legends Basketball team was last featured in the SKABA league back in the early to mid 90’s and featured former SKABA players like Lawyer Emile Ferdinand, Lloyd Lazar and others.

Try-outs for the Legends Basketball team began on Monday (30th January) at Dorset Park where many retired and semi-retired SKABA and National Team players including Kelvin “Tazzy” Elliot, Anthony “Lynx” James, Rupert “Put” Browne, Spencer Sutton, Livingstone “Dunta” France and others.

The Legends return was initiated by Trevor “Marty” Huggins who played in last year’s Premier Division Finals with the RAMS Hitters along with Minister of Sport and former multi-time Leeward Islands Basketball Tournament MVP Glen “Ghost” Phillip.

With the opening of the SKABA League less than a month away and the official opening in 2 months, many teams have begun preparations.

Powerhouses such as Ghetto Roots, Hitters and defending champions Ghaut Bucs have all began various activities including team practices, try-outs, warm-up games and tournaments etc.

The SKABA Junior League is scheduled for February 25th and the National League is tentatively set at March 25th.
