Leroy Linton remains missing, family calls for volunteers to help in search

A close family member told MiyVue.com that Linton has been missing since Tuesday, 17th February, and the family hopes that he just wandered off and has not been harmed.

The female relative indicated to this media house that immediately after the septuagenarian went missing, they immediately reported the incident to the police at 10:00 pm that evening, because he has a “memory problem”, she said.

She indicated, too, that the main concern for the family is the memory problems that he has and they are calling on the public to be on the lookout for the man, who is said to be six feet tall and sporting a baldhead.

“I understand that from trying to get more information from the police, who in my view has not been forthcoming as we would wish,” the family member disclosed.

According to family members, they have spoken to the police on several occasions to receive updates on how their search is progressing, but they were told that there is no further information at the time to be presented to them.

When contacted for a comment on the missing person’s case, this publication was informed by the police, that there is no new information at the time in that matter.

“A sergeant is supposed to contact the family to meet with us and to assist, but we have had no contact with him. But I did call, and I wanted to find out who was in-charge, and he said he was not in charge, so we are running into a dead end,” she stressed.

However, the Defense Force has also gotten involved in the missing person’s case, by conducting searches in the Frigate Bay and Old Road areas.

Those two areas, MiyVue.com understands, Linton has frequented.

“And I guess around the base of the mountain close to where he lives in Shadwell. We have had no result. There has been, Hash a hiking team that actually did a search for us in the Sulfur Stone area and no result. The family has actually been going to Old Road; Conyers to Godwin’s Ghaut and in that area to search but no result as well. There has been little response from the police,” the family member indicated.

We really need more boots on the ground, so that we can cover a wider area because, of his love of nature. And we are not quite sure of where he is, the relative said.

Another search exercise was conducted today, 4th March, in several areas of St. Kitts.
