This year, when the annual recital is presented, the same level of professionalism and dexterity is expected from the children who are already excited about their coming appearances on the big stage.
It is therefore expected to be another sell out event when the Children’s Dance Theatre, CDT, unveils its 2013 production this weekend, at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium.
With the countdown to this year’s spectacular already started, the dancers were put through their final major run-through this week, culminating on Thursday night with a 4 hour long dress rehearsal.
Producers of the concert which will be held on Saturday 16th have indicated that with the final costume unwrapped and a mosaic of dance art ever so masterfully prepared, the dancers of The Children’s Dance Theatre (CDT) are anxiously awaiting the opening of the curtains when they will dance their hearts away on stage, in front of packed audiences.
They promised that this year’s love theme will give the dancers a chance to couple their varying interests with one shared amongst them all – their love of DANCE. Such a pairing will allow for a very pleasant combination of talent and passion, one that the entire membership is excited to share at LIVE! LOVE! DANCE! which is already SOLD OUT, confirmed the official.
This weekend’s presentation by CDT will also highlight their performance skills in song, poetry and musical theatre and there will be performances from the CFBC Dance Ensemble, The Fire Flies Dance School, Range and Creative Sole Dance Company. VIPs such as former CDT dancer Zinga Imo, the reigning National Carnival Queen, and the Reigning Miss Talented, Pernelle Abraham who is a member of the dance group will be a part of the enchanting evening along with Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Junika Berry and Junior Calypso King, the Conqueror Chris.
Again this year, organizers are promising a prompt start at 7:00pm, and that LIVE LOVE DANCE will be a recital attuned to the beating of your heart.
Presently there are eighty-two (82) dancers grouped in three divisions – Sparks, Starlights and Rockets. Offering instruction in various genres of dance are Director Julie Martin, Heidi Slack, Shara-Lee Mourillon, Shanda Labega, Krystal Glasford, Tama Martin, Nekirah Nicholls and Xia Claxton.
The group was founded in October, 1989.
