The event which is being dubbed, “St. Kitts Music Festival DJ Sound Clash” was scheduled to be launched on Friday night, (13th May, 2011).
Officials of the festival’s special promotions committee revealed that six popular DJ sound -systems were registered to compete in the first round of the contest, with an event at the night spot known as Pon De Edge, located in Sandy Point.
The committee indicated that DJs vying for the title include Black Panther Sound, Black Stone Sound, Chalice Sound, Unstoppable Sound, DJ Woodis and Freedom Sound.
Coordinator of the St. Kitts Music Festival Local Promotions Committee, Diego Spanner, explained that the purpose of the DJ Clash is to promote the art of music through the display of skills by DJs from around the Federation.”
A cash prize of EC$3,000 along with a trophy and one season pass and 2 season tickets will be presented paid to the winner of the contest, said Spanner.
The winner is also expected to be featured at the music festival with a 30 minute performance on the Saturday night of the festival.
Spanner said the second place winner will receive EC$1000 Trophy, one (1) season pass and one (1) season ticket. Other participants who do not place will receive a consolation prize.
The promotions committee has informed that this is event is the first of many local promotional events leading up to the 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, which takes place at Warner Park 23rd-25th June.
The second round 2 of the DJ Sound Clash competition will take place on 21st May at De
Green Valley Pub, while the final round at the Carnival Village on 4th June.
