According to reports reaching MiyVue.com, the victim is Evans ‘Busy’ Bartlette of Nevis, and the incident occurred sometime after midday on 16th March, 2011.
As indicated in a release issued by the St. Kitts Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA), “Around 12:45 p.m…during an operation on board the MV Lady Mignon, a private vessel that operates regularly between St. Kitts and Nevis, a tragic incident occurred. This happened at the roll-on roll-off facility at the Deep Water Harbour, where the boat was docked and receiving cargo. SCASPA understands that the incident involved an independent trucker who was at the time loading cargo bound for Nevis when a worker on the vessel suffered fatal injuries.”
MiyVue.com understands that Bartlette was the Captain’s Chief Mate on the MV Lady Mignon and that the vessel transports cargo between St. Kitts Nevis on weekdays and if necessary, on weekends.
This media house also understands that, following the incident, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) were called in to assist with the investigations and according to SCASPA, it “is working with the authorities to ascertain the exact circumstances that resulted in this tragedy”.
Investigations are ongoing.
