Man Killed Woman Shot in Back

In Nevis, a woman is now warded at the Alexandra Hospital in Charlestown, following gun -shot wounds she sustained in the back on Tuesday night, (August 3rd). Over on St. Kitts, the body of  a young Kittitian man lies in the morgue at the Joseph N France Hospital, after being shot in the back and leg, at the corner of Thibou Avenue and Fort Thomas Road, Mc Knight, also early Monday night, (August 2nd).

The life of Alonzo “Capone” Herbert could not be saved despite the best efforts of the medical team at the JNF. Herbert is said to have died while still in the operating theatre. His wounds were apparently too serious for doctors to prevent him from becoming the country’s 18th homicide victim for 2010.

Reports state that Herbert, at the time of the attack by the perpetrators, was in the heart of Irishtown, in the vicinity of Fort Thomas Road and Thibou Avenue, at about 8:30pm. Though the police arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting, no arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, Moya Duporte, a Kittitian who recently moved to Nevis to be with her partner, was shot in the back, while she and her boyfriend tried to escape harm from the armed attacker. Police have confirmed that the incident took place at the boyfriend’s Government Road residence, no too far from the island’s main police station.
