Information which was gathered by this media house indicates that the shooting incident took place after the man was allegedly chasing another with a meat chopper.
Reports reaching MiyVue.com suggest that the shooting incident took place in the vicinity of LIME’s store located on Cayon Street. Investigations made by this media house revealed that the incident occurred on the corner of Cayon and West Independence Square Streets.
When MiyVue arrived on the scene, the young man, who was clothed in a long jean pant, a blue shirt and a pair of sneakers, was lying on the corner of the road, being attended to by a college student who was apparently applying pressure to the wound. Police were on the scene and a unit from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was on hand providing the wounded man with medical attention.
While his identity still remains unclear, sources close to MiyVue suggest that his name is “Dennis”. He was placed in the Emergency Medical Services vehicle and rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for further medical treatment.
An individual told MiyVue.com that he witnessed the incident.
“I was walking up Rosemary Lane and I saw this boy in a brown shirt. He had a bottle in his hand. Another boy ran from in an alley with a meat chopper in his hand and when the other guy was alerted of what was happening, he ran and the guy with the meat chopper followed. As he reached in front of LIME’s office, I saw a police man point a gun at him (the guy with the meat chopper) catching him in his belly area. He fell down,” the eye witness said.
Press and Public Relations Officer to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, was on the scene of the incident and informed that he had not yet received details and as such, was unable to properly inform the media of what had transpired.
MiyVue made a subsequent call to the Inspector who then indicated that he could only inform that the incident took place and that the victim was hospitalised. He said he could not reveal the identity of the victim nor could he identify the shooter because the investigators were still out conducting their inquiries.
Investigations, he however informed, are on-going.
