The incident, according to a police press release, took place at approximately 7:15 and involved two vehicles: a motor jeep P254 and a motorcar PA3424.
In explaining the circumstances of the incident, the press release indicates that the, “Motor jeep (which) is owned and (was being) driven by Alexander Tyson of Cayon was travelling from Cayon towards Tabernacle (while) motorcar PA-3424 (which is) owned and (was being) driven by Imran Bacchus of Lodge Village was travelling from Tabernacle towards Cayon” when the incident occurred.
It further advised that “When both vehicles reached Mansion on the main road in the vicinity of the play field and pavilion, they collided.”
Shaben was the front seat passenger in the motorcar and as a result of the crash, “sustained injuries, cuts and bruises”. He was taken to the JNF Hospital by the Emergency Medical Services where he was treated and detained for observation while the driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Mary Charles Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
Police officers were summoned to the scene and it was processed, measurements taken and explanations recorded.
Investigations are ongoing.
