Marcella Liburd calls office fire an act of “sabotage”

Speaking shortly after casting her ballot, Liburd said that it would only be cowards who would make such an attempt on her constituency office.

“It is clear sabotage. A ladder is there. Somebody climbs through a window, breaks the window, breaks out the louvers and goes to a table where all of our agent’s documents are and set them on fire,” Liburd explained, disclosing that the fire started shortly after 3:00 in the morning.

“They break into my office and gasoline was left there… They didn’t go there to steal anything. They went to destroy… They destroyed all of our election materials for our agents. But you know, they couldn’t slow us down. They can’t stop us.” said Liburd.

MLWriting earlier on social media, the Liburd rallied her supporters to vote.

“Thank God that none of my workers were in the office at the time of the fire. We shall not be moved nor shall we run. We are LABOUR and we are strong. To the vandals, God does not sleep, and wicked men cannot prosper. Get out and vote Labour so these terrorists can be brought to justice.”

The fire gutted several sections of the constituency office, partially damaging several sections of the building both internally and externally.

Despite the early morning fire, Liburd told that she is confident of retaining her seat after the elections is completed.
