“Mr. Wrong” singer MJB is not only covering the newest ESSENCE, but is serving as guest editor as well. As she gears up to headline the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this July, the 41-year-old is looking extra comfortable in her own skin these days. And we love Mary and all but if we need to have a mini-conference to come up with a few new names for covers…
Mary’s giving her insight into relationships, finances & fashion. And unveils even more about her journey of life:
“I was never really able to look at myself in the mirror until I began to hear God telling me I was beautiful. Suddenly, other people started telling me I was beautiful, too, because I had started believing it…”
According to the press release:
From the first time she came on the scene with What’s the 411?, Mary J. Blige’s journey has been our journey. She’s been a lover and a fighter. A mogul and an artist. She aspires and inspires. And when the “Queen of Hip Hop” visited ESSENCE’s offices as guest editor (of her twelfth ESSENCE cover!)—she blew the team away once again. Rolling up her designer sleeves, Mary got to work and left her imprint on everything from stories on fashion, relationships, money management and more. Plus, in the introspective piece, Take Me As I Am, Miss Mary reminds readers that the woman who’s most irresistible to a man is the one who loves herself.
The issue hits stands May 11th.
