The experienced and veteran entertainer, on Friday 6th May, hosted a 2 hour seminar for the 10 contestants at the conference room of the FND Credit Union, at Bladen’s Commercial District.
According to the Chairman of the ZIZ Anniversary Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the media entity, Mr. Peter Jenkins, his committee has decided to organize a number of training activities to assist the artistes in their overall development.
Jenkins has made it clear that ZIZ has always provided developmental support to artistes in St. Kitts & Nevis, since the station opened its doors 50 years ago. He said that this commitment continues today with the decision to incorporate both a calypso competition, which was held on Saturday 26th March and now this Song Contest, as part of the celebrations of the attainment of the historic milestone of 50 years for ZIZ.
During his presentation to the artistes, Masud Sadiki encouraged the young entertainers to pay attention to important elements of the entertainment craft, such as preparation, voice training, wardrobe/dressing, rehearsals, the importance of sound, performance, diet and nutrition, overcoming stage fear, and communicating with your audience.
Sadiki also pointed out to the contestants the importance of remaining ‘planted to the ground’ with their values and principles…encouraging them not to lose focus, as individuals and artistes.
He told them that the only way to perfect their art-form is through consistency and determination. He admonished them not to be discouraged by stumbles along the way because this too is part of the process of artiste development and experience.
The song contest is scheduled for Saturday 28th May, 2011 at Carnival Village.
Jenkins has indicated that other events are planned for the contestants, including a promotional visit to Nevis later this month.
