Now this energetic, hard working and creative talent is lending his voice to help end violence against women with his latest release, “A Stitch in Time”, which was aired for the first time on local radio stations on Monday, (4th October).
The song was recorded to support the United Nations and UNIFEM’s- Unite to End Violence against Women Campaign. Masud has been engaged by UNIFEM, along with other Caribbean artistes for the next five years, to help spread the word against the abuse of women.
During a live radio interview on Monday the Kittitian artiste explained that UNIFEM is seeking to create a deeper relationship with artistes, to help stem the physical, verbal and other forms of violence that have impacted women throughout the world, including St. Kitts & Nevis and the Caribbean.
Masud said that the first verse of the song was inspired by an incident that occurred in January this year, while the title of the track, A Stitch in Time, came to him while in the shower.
He is scheduled to travel to Barbados this month to participate in a concert, organized by UNIFEM and designed to spotlight the special anti-violence campaign. Other regional artistes, including Allison Hinds are scheduled to perform at the event that will include an exclusive audience, including Barbados’s Governor General and senior government officials.
Later in December, Masud is against expected to perform in Bridgetown at an open concert that will feature other artistes from the region.
Musical arrangements for this new song were done by Jazzique Chiverton of Challengers, operating from his Nevis- based Ball A Karn Productions Studio. Masud reported that all the instruments for the song were also played by Jazzique, who has become one the federation’s most gifted producers and arrangers.
This new and potential hit tune falls in line with previous selections from Masud that praised the work of women and the sacrifices they make. One such song was an earlier hit tune titled, “Love for me Mama”.
