To this end, the Committee has already established a special sub-committee that has been charged with the responsibility to make this new project successful.
The Minister of Carnival, Ms. Marcella Liburd has recently made the point that after carnival, residents and the public overseas alike have no form of memorabilia or souvenir that they can cherish to say that they participated in National Carnival.
The Minister has indicated that there will now be a merchandising committee headed by Nicole Gumbs who is charged with the marketing and the sale of carnival merchandise both here in St. Kitts and Nevis but also overseas.
The committee is expected to make arrangements for the production and availability of DVDs of the various carnival events. All necessary legal and copyrights issues will be addressed in the pursuit of this venture.
Minister Liburd also said that a merchandise shop will be set up in one central location in Basseterre and she also revealed that throughout the year items will be available across different shops and stores throughout the federation.
Carnival 2011/2012 is set to be launched on 25th October and is due to officially start on the 25th November, running for 40 days, in honour of the 40th Anniversary.
