Minister Harris Heads Delegation to America’s Competitiveness Forum in Santo Domingo

The (ACF) American Competitiveness Forum is the premier economic and commercial event of the Americas. It is attracting hundreds of participants from the public and private sectors, including Ministers of Industry, Finance, academic leaders and representatives of civil society and business.

The delegation is comprised of Dr Timothy Harris, Senior Minister and Minister of Industry and Commerce and Mr. Calvin Cable Executive Director of Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Minister Harris said that the forum provides an opportunity for all participants to discuss possible actions to improve competitiveness and economic prosperity in the Americas.

Delegates will share ideas on how to make Latin America and the Caribbean more productive, competitive and prosperous. Important consideration will be given to how small and medium sized enterprise can participate in domestic and international markets and how regional and international trade and investment can bring value to the competitiveness of the Americas as a region.

Dr Harris said it was important to have such high level dialogue as operates at the Competiveness Forum. Such dialogue “helps to foster cooperation, policy discussion and review, the exchange of successful experiences and lessons and the adoption of joint initiatives to strengthen competitiveness of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
