Minister of Health Pleads with Drivers

With just over 700 road accidents so far for the year and the Christmas and Carnival Season approaching ,Minister Liburd said, it was an opportune time to bring home to citizens and residents, motorists and pedestrians alike the importance of road safety and accident prevention.

“Motor Vehicular Accidents are among the top medical emergencies.  I would like to implore citizens and residents of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis to adhere to the traffic rules and regulations especially as we approach the Christmas and carnival season. I urge you not to drink and drive. Always remember the life you save may just be your own,” said Ms. Liburd.

Head of the Traffic Department, Inspector Cromwell Henry told the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM), that 759 road accidents and one road fatality have been reported on St. Kitts up to October this year.

A total of 959 road accidents and nine fatalities were recorded in 2010.
