Last carnival was considered to be a huge success by most participants, the public and local media and the committee appears keen on ensuring that they build on the 2010/11 success.
St. Kitts & Nevis Carnival is usually held from mid December to early January, the following year, packed with queen shows, calypso competitions, street parades, parties and many other types of entertainment.
A new National Committee was appointed in 2010, headed by former calypsonian, Clement “Monarch” O’Garro. Last year was also the first time that the festival was being administered under the guidance of Marcella Liburd, who was sworn in as the new Minister of Culture in 2010.
