Challenger was shot multiple times to the body sometime after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 after he reportedly disembarked his vehicle on arrival at his place of employment – Cliff Dwellers.
He was reportedly shot by two gunmen who made good their escape in his vehicle.
Challenger was rushed to the Alexandra Hospital where he underwent surgery but succumbed to his injuries at about 5:00 p.m. that day.
Challenger was one of five men who in 2006 were convicted of the 2004 stabbing death of 16-year-old Eric Weekes.
However, the conviction and sentence of the High Court were appealed and the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal overturned the lower Court’s ruling for four of the five, including Challenger, exonerating them.
