The event took place on 8th June, 2011 at the institution’s Bank Card Centre located at Port Zante and was attended by the parents of the winning students, their teachers and staff members of the bank.
The six students were named winners in two categories, the primary school category and the secondary school category. Participants of the competition from the primary school category were asked to each submit an essay on the topic “What are the benefits of saving while you are young” while the secondary school students were asked to write on the topic, ”The banking industry plays and important role in the development of one’s country.”
Second runner-up position for the primary school category was won by Sharez Huggins of Dieppe Bay Primary School while the first runner-up position went to Deonae Brookes of Saddlers Primary School. The overall winner of that category was Arljanique Ward of the St. Pauls Primary School.
Shantal Hanley of the Basseterre High School (BHS) placed second runner-up in the secondary school category, first runner-up was Xarielle Blanchette of the Saddlers Primary School and the overall winner was Washington Archibald High School (WAHS) student, Magnus Blake.
The second-runners up winners were awarded trophies and a Future Planner Account each, in the amount of $250 while the first runners up were awarded trophies and Future Planner Accounts in the amount of $350.
Overall winners were awarded Future Planner Accounts in the amount of $500 each, as well as plaques cataloguing their accomplishment in the competition.
The schools which all the winners represent were presented with cheques, the amounts of which correspond with the amounts which they received.
St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank Board’s Chairman, Ambassador Walford Gumbs, congratulated the awardees on their accomplishment and admonished them to capitalise of the educational opportunities which are being afforded them.
