The release explained that the late Dwayne Sturge, in his capacity as member of the National Carnival Calypso Sub-committee was responsible for the Soca Monarch Competition.
In his role as leader of the Beaumont Park Soca Monarch planning team, Dwayne was influential in its flawless preparation and organization and in the interest generated in the competition, which resulted in over 40 artistes being registered to compete for the two crowns.
The National Carnival Committee’s release described Dwayne as being an individual who was full of potential and stated that his untimely loss will be immeasurable not only to his family and abundance of friends but also to carnival.
