Though the storm, according to the St. Kitts & Nevis Meteorological Services, has slightly intensified it is believed that it will soon begin to slowly weaken.
Ophelia is however expected to take a turn to the West Northwest by Friday, said the Met Office.
On its present track, the storm is predicted to pass over the open Atlantic, well north of the Leeward Islands, between Sunday and Monday. However, residents in St. Kitts & Nevis and other Leeward Islands are being urged to closely monitor the movement of Ophelia since any southerly change in the forecast track could bring the system closer to the islands.
Thursday is expected to continue to be partly sunny with scattered showers in the day while tonight, it will be partly cloudy with isolated showers.
