Playing in the opening match of the competition against sister island St. Kitts, the Nevisians made light work of their opponents, defeating them by 34 runs, in their 25 overs a side encounter.
After winning the toss, Team Nevis batted first, and went on to reach an impressive total of 149 for only 3 wickets.
Outstanding performances were produced by Phillo Wallace who made 50 not out and his captain, Ross Powell, with a supporting knock of 42.
The bowling for the Kittitians saw Kwame Challenger getting 1 wicket for 9 runs.
In reply at the crease, the St. Kitts team could only manage 115 for 9 wickets, when their allotted 25 overs were completed.
Cameron Pennyfeather with 34 and Captain Jaeel Clarke with 22 were the top performers for the home team, in their reply to Nevis.
Meanwhile, Bowling for Nevis – Rajindra Balgobin had 3 wickets for 14, Shelton Forbes 3/22 and Javani Tyson 1/9.
The Most Valuable Player for St Kitts was Cameron Pennyfeather while the Most Valuable Player for Nevis was Phillo Wallace.
Matches in the 15th annual tournament continued on Thursday, 25th August, with Barbados and Nevis meeting at the Elquemedo Willet Park – Charlestown, while Anguilla played St Kitts at the Conaree Sports Complex. The St. Kitts Development Team also came up against Dominica at the Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre.
