Since then the local government and tourism officials there have been making an extra effort to attract new links that could provide direct scheduled services to the Vance Amory International Airport, to ease the burden of stop overs and in transit requirements for Nevisians returning home and visitors to the island.
Authorities have therefore welcomed the decision of “Fly Montserrat”, to commence a new service with connections out of Antigua, which Nevis still views as a critical hub for potential European visitors, in addition to the weekly British Airways flight via the Robert Bradshaw International Airport on its sister island, St. Kitts.
Premier of Nevis was recently quoted by a government release as saying that he was overjoyed that Fly Montserrat will now help transport travelers between Nevis and Antigua.

During the ceremony held at the Nevis Airport ahead of the inaugural flight, Director of Fly Montserrat, Captain Nigel Harris said that the airline is very suitable and convenient for connecting passengers arriving in Antigua on British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines and Air Canada. According to Mr. Harris, Fly Montserrat would allow travelers to get to Nevis the same day.
Each customer will be allowed one 50lb bag and one carry-on, said an airline official, while fares between Antigua and Nevis have been set at US $114 plus taxes, and for Nevis to Montserrat at US$198 plus taxes for day trippers.
