Officials at the Premier’s Ministry have indicated that the Deputy Governor General, Mr. Eustace John will deliver the Throne Speech when the elected and appointed members of the Assembly meet next week at Hamilton House where the Nevis Island Assembly is, located.
The speech is expected to outline the new programs and policies of the newly elected Nevis Island Administration, which is headed by Mr. Joseph Parry, as Premier. The Deputy Governor General will use the presentation to paint the vision, for the future development of the island of Nevis.
The new sitting of the Assembly will also formally signal the start of the new term in office of the Nevis Reformation Party, NRP.
When the last Island Elections were concluded last July, the NRP was declared winner of three seats, while the opposition Concerned Citizens Movement, CCM, of Vance Amory, was said to have won two seats, thus paving the way for the Mr. Parry and his team to be re-appointed.
Those elected at the elections were, Joseph Parry, Robelto Hector and Hensley Daniel-NRP; and Vance Amory and Alexis Jeffers from the CCM.
During the Assembly Opening, Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Dwight Morton will invite a Minister of Religion to say a prayer. That will be followed by the election of a Speaker of the House and then the Oath of Allegiance will be administered to all members. The House will then be suspended for the arrival of the Deputy Governor General.
