Nevis successfully defends in debating competition

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 5th March, 2018 (MyVueNews.com) – Celebrations still continue after Nevis’ debating students successful defended their title by winning the 2018 Leeward Islands Debating Competition hosted in Anguilla, 2nd to 4th March.

Nevisian Sixth Former  Rol-J Williams was also declared the best speaker.

In the opening rounds Antigua competed against St. Maarten, debating the topic, “Mental Health issues among Caribbean adolescents have largely been ignored.” St. Maarten emerged winner of this encounter.

On Saturday, 3rd March, Nevis came up against Anguilla, debating “Climate Change supersedes crime and drug traffickin.” Nevis won that debate.

The final between St. Maarten and Nevis saw the teams  keenly debating the topic, “Black people’s suspicion and resentment of white people is justified.” Nevis, opposing the moot, emerged winner of the the 2018 Leeward Islands Debating Competition.
