New agreement between Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis

Presiding over the ceremony and representing their respective governments were Agriculture Minister, Nigel Carty and Taiwan’s Resident Ambassador, Miguel Tsao.

The local government says it is of the view that the agreement represents a new phase of cooperation in agriculture with an initiative aimed at vegetable, fruit and upland crop, quality and safety improvement.

As a consequence of the new agreement, Taiwan will take urgent steps to establish two laboratories. One will be used for soil fertility analysis and the other for rapid detection of pesticide residue respectively, as the project gets started.

As a joint venture, the aim is to sustainably bring the bilateral cooperative project to a new height.

The two countries have been collaborating on the development of the agricultural sector in St. Kitts and Nevis for the past 33 years.

The agreement was signed at Taiwan’s Embassy on Friday.
