In making the announcement, Beaumont Park’s General Manager Richard Cummings stated that, “The modification to the 2011 racing calendar has been necessitated by the effects of excessive rainfall and wind damage sustained from the recent passage of Tropical Storm Irene at the Beaumont Park Racing Oval.”

Mr. Cummings further stated that, “The health and welfare considerations of our customers, employees, and human and equine athletes are of paramount importance to us.  Ensuring the safety of our patrons and participants is our first priority.”

Several of the tented structures, as well as the stage and roofs of the jockeys’ quarters and saddling enclosure required significant remediation as a result of the storm.
