The case of missing Dylon Clarke of Church Ground, Nevis, has been a vexing one for some time now, as some sections of the Nevisian public, including the family of the boy, have been urging authorities to do much more to locate their missing loved one.
It was on Sunday 29th April, 2012, when Dylon left his home to visit a friend, around 6:00pm, and he has not been seen since that time.
He was last seen at a shop known as Moonlight Bar & Lounge, said to be close to his residence, but then he left that location to visit a friend and has not returned home.
Before his disappearance, Dylon was scheduled to testify in a murder case, but police said that he eventually refused to do so; and shortly after he disappeared.
When he was last seen, he was wearing short blue jeans, yellow polo shirt and black and white Nike sandals.
Assistance for various friendly law enforcement bodies was received, including that from a team from the US Virgin Island, who were brought to Nevis, with a trained dog, on a mission to find the missing teenager. However, no success was achieved, even though there were many rumours that the dog had picked up the scent of the victim in one particular area. Some residents has argued and claimed that the police refused to follow up on those leads, though this was denied.
Other claims have tried to associate politics and the connection of certain members of Nevisian society who it is alleged preferred the investigation to focus elsewhere. These claims too have not been substantiated.
In any case, it is now good news, say some residents, that the efforts to solve the mystery are being continued and police have re-issued a new Missing Person’s Bulletin, seeking the assistance of the public.
Dylon Clarke is 17 years old, 5’8’ tall, black hair, dark complexion and weighs about 140lbs, with dark brown eyes. Police say he also has a scar on the left side of his face.
