During the month of November 2012, the Rotary Club of Liamuiga inducted four new members who exude a strong willingness to get involved in their communities, connect with other professionals, share their time and experience with young people, support global causes such as eradicating polio and use their skills to help others.

The newly-inducted members all expressed their excitement about being a part of a prestigious, worldwide organization like Rotary International. Each new member pledged to live up to and exceed the high ideals of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga in every aspect of their life.
President Lester Hanley welcomed the new members to the Club and encouraged them to uphold the tenets of Rotary and to promote the Rotary theme for this year of “Peace Through Service.”
“RCL is a dynamic, service-driven organization,” said President Lester. “Therefore, it is not simply about inducting new members or younger members but rather members who will bring positive, service-oriented philosophies to propel our Club forward.
In his monthly message this past October, Rotary International President, Sakuji Tanaka, remarked that “Understanding the idea of vocational service completely changed my attitude toward my work, and toward my own purpose in life. I realized that the goal of a person doing business is not only to earn a living. The purpose is to be a contributing member of the community, to make the community stronger, and to help make other people’s lives better.”
It is this concept that all members of Rotary embrace—“Service Above Self.”
