According to a recent government announcement, they are in search of a new Solicitor General who is needed to serve in a full time capacity, on contract for a period of two (2) years.
It is understood that the last office holder, Mr. John Tyme of Jamaica recently resigned his position to enter private practice.
Possible candidates must possess at least the Bachelors of Law degree and the Legal Education Certificate from one of the regional Law Schools.
Their main Duties and Responsibilities of the post include but are not limited to the following:
1. To be responsible for the oversight of the work of all Crown Counsels
2. To provide legal advice to all Ministries of Government and Government Departments.
While the process for application is currently open, candidates have only until December 17, 2012.
In the other civil service opening, the hunt is on for a new Director of Public Works on a full-time basis, in the Ministry of Housing, Public Works, Energy and Public Utilities.
The candidates for that position must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering and a valid driver’s license. The candidate should also have no less than five (5) years managerial experience in public works or engineering.
Their Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
1. To receive administrative directions from the Permanent Secretary of his/her designee
2. To directly exercise technical and functional supervision over professional, technical and clerical personal
