According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, at 5:00 pm EDT on Monday, the center of tropical depression twelve was located about 415 miles southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands.
The depression was moving toward the west near 14 mph and a turn toward the west-northwest at a faster forward speed is expected over the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days and the depression could become a tropical storm by Monday night.
