According to the statement, individuals would have to make all necessary payments for 2015, on or before March 31, 2015, in order to benefit from the amnesty. Payments are to be made at the Work Permit Office at the Bath Hotel.
The release indicates that the amnesty is being done because the NIA “values the contribution of all who call Nevis their home and continues to work with all Nevisians and residents to create a harmonious society beneficial to all”.
Persons who comply by the end of March would further benefit from a $500 reduction in the fee for a work permit, as well as the annual residency fee.
According to the NIA information, “failure by anyone affected by this notice to regularize himself of herself at the Work Permit Office on or before March 31st, 2015, will result in he or she having to settle in full, all outstanding amounts owed before the amnesty was implemented”.
In addition to the amnesty, the WPO also disclosed that CARICOM nationals living in Nevis, who wish to purchase land, would immediately benefit from a reduction in the Alien Land Holding License fee. With immediate effect, states the information, the fee has moved from 10 percent to 5 percent of the value of the land.
