Niicha-B, whose real name is Nicha Calandre Byron hails from Keys Village in St. Kitts and he got his breakthrough on the music scene, in 2010. In an exclusive interview with the artiste, Miyvue.com asked Byron his opinion on the sudden rise of his career and if he sees himself challenging Infamus, who is his cousin, for the top spot.
In his reply, Nicha said, “it is not about the competition, but the support for each artiste in the industry.”
According to him, “To be honest, I know that he (Infamus) who is also my family, has a lot of music to be released, but at the end of the day, it is dedication. I am not saying that he has not dedicated himself, but he just recently had a baby and was off the scene for a while.”
“I thank Infamus for making the way for all of us. However, some people put in more effort than others, because some people become relaxed after a time, but for me, I am always hungry for more music,” Nicha-B explained.
The artiste also spoke of the unity amongst the local artistes of St. Kitts and Nevis and made the appeal for more unification in the local entertainment industry.
“Without each other we are nothing. Unity is power and one man is not a nation because by himself it is easier for him to fall, but with support we can all progress,” he stated.
Presently Nicha-B is working on a music video for his newest singles “It’s a Party and “Leave People Business.”
“The video is being filmed and produced by TruCapo. We starting shooting the video in Nevis at several different locations, then we did a few shoots around Basseterre and over the Frigate Bay Strip”, said Nicha-B
“The concept of the video, which features the two songs, is similar to a medley, because both tracks are on the same rhythm, ‘Get Crunk’ and it’s just to showcase the idea of those persons who pay more attention to other people’s business. At the end, will be the short insert of ‘It’s a party’. They will show what it’s like just having good fun at the party spots,” he explained.
Nicha-B has been featured on some of the federation’s top shows, that took place between December 2010, where he was guest artiste for the Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant, Best of the Best, to as recent as a Valentine’s Day party dubbed, Lust.
He was also one of the guest artistes at the launch of MiyVue.com last December.
