MiyVue.com received an email from the committee which explains that, circumstances specific to sponsorship and commitment of corporate partners forces the cancellation.
“It is with a deep sense of regret that we inform you that the Rotaract Club of St. Kitts will not be hosting the 2010 Rotaract Prince and Princess Show. Over the past few months, the club had been working assiduously with the schools to give young people another opportunity to creatively display their full potential as a means of promoting wholesome development.
“Moreover, our working relationship and formal commitment from local Corporate partners to support the endeavour was declined at the last minute due to the present economic climate, much to the surprise of the club. The club therefore was left with no choice but to abandon plans to stage this year’s event with much disappointment to all concerned.”
The show was to have made a come-back this year after a two-year hiatus. News of the return was announced in mid-November and according to reports then, plans were progressing and five schools had already been identified and were making preparations for the event.
The named schools were the Immaculate Conception, Irishtown Primary, Bronte Welsh Primary, Saddlers Primary and Sandy Point Primary, from which one boy and one girl each would be selected to represent in the event. The youngsters were to have made appearances in three segments which are Induction, Talent and Youth Formal Wear segments.
Although some measure of disappointment surrounds the cancellation, the 2010 Rotaract Prince and Princess Show Organising Committee has extended gratitude to those who were assisting with preparations for the event and asked for persons’ understanding during this difficult time.
