Lawyers, police officers and other officers of the court, gathered at the house of law for the opening which took place before His Lordship Justice Henry Moore.
According to information received by MiyVue a total of five cases – including two murder cases – are listed for hearing during this assizes.
Sandy Nisbett of New Castle will stand trial for the 30th October, 2008 murder of his uncle Alejandro Nisbett of Shaw’s Road. Information which was disseminated by the police concerning the matter suggested that Alejandro was “attacked and wounded with a machete at Shaw’s Road at about 5:30 a.m.” They also indicated that when they arrived on the scene, they found “the deceased lying in the road with what appeared to be blood coming from various parts of his body.”
Cotton Ground resident Davon Daniel will also stand trial for murder, but for an unrelated incident.
Keshaun Merchant of Pond Hill was charged with illegal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of a firearm and shooting with intent. The alleged offences took place on 10th January 2009
Also appearing on the list of cases for hearing, are the cases of Kenrick Hendrickson of Marion Avenue, who was charged with indecent assault and Osbourne Hewitt of Stoney Grove, who was charged with unlawful carnal knowledge.
All who appeared before the court pleaded not guilty to their charges and dates for trial were set.
Merchant’s case, MiyVue understands, is set to begin this morning (23rd Nov.).
