October is Financial Information Month

Early planning for Financial Information Month saw media professionals and financial personnel in the federation of St Kitts and Nevis; on Thursday 10th August 2011, assembled at the Meeting Room III, ECCB Headquarters to discuss the upcoming events.

Financial Information Month is held every year in October since its inauguration in 2002 and seeks to educate the populace on money matters.

This year the month will carry the theme “Grow your Savings”, which will focus on the importance of building financial reserves (savings), as a critical foundation for financial strengthening, financial risk management and financial prosperity.

A number of activities and events which should benefit each community were mentioned at this brief yet very informative meeting.DSCN8925

It was disclosed that projects for the communities will include financial clinics, financial discussions with high school students, financial fitness walkathon, a financial rally, one (1) hour of financial matters with children- public library and donation of food baskets.

Also, as part of the activities the participating financial institutions will be treated to a sports meet, which will be held on 29th October 2011.

In order to properly promote Financial Information Month and the theme “Grow you Savings” the organisers have chosen to take the route of advertising  through  the mounting of street banners, printing thematic  t-shirts (for participating institutions) which will carry the FIM theme and logo, and  displaying the FIM logo and this year’s theme water bottles.

The media on the other hand will assist the FIM organisers through featuring a field of information and programmes, leading up to and during the month of October. These programmes include Grow your savings, 1,2,3 Get ready to save, Grow your Financial Knowledge and Ensure your dollar make cents Sense.

A ringtone and song will also be developed as part of the 2011 Financial Information Month.
