According to reports a Nevis resident was shot and killed after officers of the Cotton Ground Police Station responded to a report of gunshots being fired in that area.
Investigations into this report revealed that two men received gunshot injuries; Tonio Hutton of Cotton Ground who received gunshot wounds to his left leg while another male victim whose name was not released but was pronounced dead on the scene by Dr. Ravi.
A police press statement on Thursday, revealed that with the permission of the Coroner, the body was escorted to the Alexandra Hospital.
Investigations into this incident are currently underway.
Police officials have asked that individuals having any information surrounding this incident should contact the Police. Commissioner of Police Mr C G Walwyn in a statement said he craves the support of the general public as they exploit all existing resources to bring to justice the perpetrators of this crime.
This now brings the murder death toll to nine, in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, for 2012.
