The incident occurred at shortly before 10:00 p.m. and according to a police report, the incident was communicated to the authorities at about 10:00 p.m. Investigations were immediately launched and members of the Special Service s Unit (SSU), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Crime Scene Unit visited the scene.
The police communiqué informs that according to the officers’ initial enquiries, a group of young men were gathered on the outside of a shop located at Central Fiennes Avenue when a car drove past from which gunfire was opened.
The individuals who were wounded during the onslaught are: 23-year-old Alexter Eloni Jeffers of Lower Fiennes Avenue, 31-year-old Kenya Francis of Shaw Avenue, 26-year-old Kimo Flemming of Fort Thomas Road and 23-year-old Kywanna Hughes of Upper Shaw Avenue.
All were reportedly transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment. Jeffers succumbed to his injuries while he was receiving medical treatment. Medical treatment was also given to the other three and Francis has been listed as being in critical condition while Flemming and Hughes are said to be in “serious but stable” condition.
The police force’s Public Relations Officer informs that, “The scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis.”
He also indicates that the authorities are in active pursuit of “persons of interest” concerning this incident and that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
