According to Brantley of Daniel Brantley and Associates – which is located on Main Street, Charlestown – staff of the law firm arrived for work on the morning of 12th April, 2011 to find that it has been burglarised.
“They were missing some laptop computer and various other property of one of the lawyers. We have no idea who may have committed this crime but we feel that is evident, yet again, of the surging criminality in the country and evidence yet again, that nobody is safe from the long arm of crime. I am hopeful that somebody would be apprehended not just for this but for all the other criminal activities that continue to bedevil our country…”
Brantley said the incident reinforces the fact that no one is beyond the reach of crime and reiterated the call he made many times before for the powers that be to lead the fight against crime.
“Of course I feel violated, this is not the first time, let me add. My house was burgled I think a few years ago and so the truth is I have been a victim of crime before but obviously in this particular environment, it tells a us that none of us is safe and fighting crime is everybody’s business.
“But again I call on the Prime Minister, I call on Minister of National Security, I call on the Premier of Nevis, they absolutely have to lead on this issue. All of us are suffering, none of us is safe and so long as this situation with security continues, I feel we would be failing as a country.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook (FB) message, Brantley gave a list of items taken from the office and solicited assistance from his FB family in solving the crime.
“I am asking everyone on FB to help me solve this crime. Taken were 2 black Dell lap tops and a lawyers navy blue robe bag with gown in it. The bag has white initials “MAM” on it. If you can help, let me know.”
