Leader of the main opposition political party in St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Shawn Richards on Wednesday, (7th November, 2012), applauded Mr. Obama, not only for his success in Tuesday’s presidential elections in the United States, but also for the work he has been doing and the ways in which Caribbean people including those with roots in St. Kitts and Nevis, have benefited.
In the congratulatory message sent to Obama by the PAM leader, Richards stated, “On behalf of the People’s Action Movement, I am honoured to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, on your re-election as President of the United States of America. As President and leader of the free world, your reelection in a democratic process reflects the hopes and aspirations of the people who exercised their sacred right to vote, in a free and fair election.”
Richards said that in the last four years, President Obama has done so much to promote a fair, stable and just society in the United States. He told the US leader that despite the difficult and uncaring world today, his polices on health care and immigration have won the admiration and respect of many, including the people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“We pray for your continued success. The Peoples Action Movement shares your philosophy on people and community centered development, greater use of renewable energy, and closer co-operation between all peoples of the world. May God guide your path and grant you wisdom as you lead your nation and the free world,” stated Richards.
Barack Obama won a hard fought election campaign and was returned to office in what has been described as the most expensive and hard fought Presidential campaigns in US History, said PAM in an official release.
