A release from the Party indicates that the Caucus, which will see scores of the party’s rank and file representing the eight constituencies essentially vote for the elected positions of the organization.
Fifteen representatives, selected by each of the eight constituencies are to be represented at the Caucus, this Sunday March 20th 2011.
The National Women’s Group along with the National Young Pamites is entitled to three delegates each and all the outgoing members of the executive are also entitled to be represented and have a vote. Thus the event will see over 200 persons including observers, in attendance.
All of the party’s administrative positions will be up for elections at the event. Current Party Chairman Sydney Osbourne will be vying for yet another term as party chair. Well known Lawyer Delara Maclure Taylor has confirmed that he will be challenging for the coveted post.
Taylor was a member of PAM’s legal team that also included Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissesar and Barbadian Opposition MP Mia Mottley, in the landmark “boundaries case”.
Party Public Relations Officer Wallis Wilkin has indicated that he is not seeking re-election to the post he has held for the last 6 years.
The other officers on the current executive include Dr. Charles Warner (Deputy Chairman), Shirley Julius (General Secretary), Rupert Earle (Treasurer) and Terrelah Byron (Assistant General Secretary).
The Caucus takes place on Sunday March 20th at the Party Headquarters starting at 1:00pm.
