Our BET Awards Red Carpet Fashion Highlights and Lowlights (And the Winners Are…)

Last night was the 2015 BET Awards and of course, it was a star studded affair of some of Hollywood’s most elite in the music and entertainment industry. Countless of our fashionable faves were sure to attend and wear their summer’s best for the evening, however last night seemed like more women than we could even count (but of course- we did!)

So without further ado, ladies and gents, our BET Awards 2015 red carpet rundown:

Cream come true! You already know summer is in the air when white is everywhere! Last night was clearly all about that “white,” as many of our faves dressed up in various stark white shades. Singers Letoya Luckett and Monica both opted for ‘flowy and snowy’ dresses, in which LeToya rocked a Zhivago dress with shoes by Jimmy Choo! Meanwhile, Mo was stunning in a Stephane Rolland piece with her best accessory being her bright red hair. Gorgeous!

Meanwhile, Tracee Ellis Ross served up frost bitten kitten in a tighter ensemble that hugged every bit of their enviable curves and amazing shape. The look was complete with a pair of white pumps and gold accessories as the hostess of the evening walked the carpet with co-host and fellow cast-mate, Anthony Anderson.

Winner: Monica! We were loving the added train to her dress and her red hair made for the perfect crown!

Say Yes to the Mesh?

Prime time fine Nicole Ari Parker and Lisa Raye were both undeniably toting some serious body in their white mesh fits but one of these things are not quite like the other. While Nicole sported a white, lacy Julea Domani gown cut and trim to perfection, Lisa Raye opted for quite a little more skin in her Fuddie Lewis dress, and may or may not have crossed the lines of “sexy” in her see-thru number.

Winner: Nicole! Although we love Lisa (and she is still giving women half her age a run for the money in the body department), Nicole managed to keep it classy in see-thru and avoid being a hot ‘mesh’ in her dress!

All black dressed like an omen! *Lil’ Kim voice* Of course ladies can hardly ever go wrong with our go-to color black and these ladies definitely embodied ‘bodying’ a good black dress!

Gabrielle Union looked darling as usually as she rocked a cut-out Halston Heritage gown in all black. She finished the look off with a dark lip and clutch!
R&B’s little miss Sweetie pie, Justine Skye, was bossy in Balmain in this black pleated piece and gold statement necklace. The purple haired maven finished the look off with Stuart Weitzman sandals.

Kelly Rowland was our fave in black for the evening and slayed in a Lever Couture piece.

Winner: It’s a tie! Kelly Rowland and Gabrielle Union both slayed in black. Gabby U takes the ‘W’ this round since we she is shining in sequins in more ways than one! As for Kelly- any lady willing to wear feathers in hot weather, and still keep her cool- gets two thumbs up from us!

Cassie showed up with the ‘girls’ in tow in this deep plunge v-neck dress! Nicki Minaj, who was also spotted walking the carpet with bae Meek, rocked a Givenchy dress with a pretty huge zipper for detail down the middle (risqué!) Meanwhile, ‘Try Me’ rapper DeJ Loaf switched up her tomboy style and opted for this risqué Zhivago see-thru ‘fit that hugged her body in all the right places!

Lux in a Tux- push through ladies! Last night, Actress Laverne Cox rocked a number of looks, including this navy blue Dmitry Sholokhov custom tux. She finished the look off with a pair of Louboutin, rhinestone pumps.
Meanwhile, Lil’ Mama rocked a black Viktor & Roth pantsuit with silver, bejeweled detail. The ‘Sausage’ rapptress finished the look off with a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes.  Meanwhile, Amber Rose was twinning with her bestie Blac Chyna in this all white pant and blazer get up. The two went as each other’s dates in honor of marriage equality!
Winner: Laverne! Her fit was tailored to perfection and we’re loving the added details that made the pant suit pop. Perfect blend of masculine and feminine!

Honorable Mentions: Although not quite “pant suits,” these ladies did show up in pants (or something like it!)

Christina Milian rolled up to the carpet in this fun, multi-colored pantsuit by Erevos Aether Shoes, with shoes by Jimmy Choo. Meanwhile, Tinashe showed up in a snake skin fit for the carpet before hitting the stage to embody Miss Jackson for the mega Janet tribute.

As for Eva– it’s a dress, it’s a jumpsuit it’s… jump dress? The former ANTM star walked the carpet in what appeared to maybe be a dress with an interesting slit but upon further inspection, it was actually a pretty strategic pant dress with plenty of dazzle and dazzle for effect. Interesting!

Winner: Christina Millian- we loved the awesome prints that turned her all white suit into a more fun, colorful piece!

Look at these ladies shining- literally! Actress Zendaya Coleman was a holographic hottie when she wore this cute dress shirt inspired get-up! She finished the look off with a pixie-cut hair style and high peep toe pumps that she says placed her 5’10 frame at a whopping 6’4.

Meanwhile, Ciara was a metallic maven in this cleavage-baring ‘Wes Gordon’ suit, while  Angela Simmons donned a Patbo dress and shoes.

Winner: Zendaya! Although we love Ciara’s look, we have definitely seen her rock this theme before (slicked back hair, neutral colors, slits and legs, etc.) Between the hair and the wardrobe- Zendaya continues to take fashion risks that we can all appreciate, keeping us on our toes each time she hits the carpet! (Not to mention, she managed not to have a cheek spill out at all!)

‘Power’ women unite! Onscreen besties, Naturi Naughton and Lala Anthony, were all about color on the carpet last night! As Lala opted for a Peter Pilotto mini dress and lime free Giuseppe tie-up sandals, Naturi actually wore an original piece by high school senior Kyemah McEntyre (remember the girl who’s prom dress went viral less than a month ago– well yea, she’s doing red carpets now). Loving the support of young women and new designers trying to get in the game.

Winner: Naturi of course! Although Lala’s make-up slayed and we love her choice of colors for her overall dress, we are loving the support of young women and industry newcomers, and Naturi definitely gave Kyemah some (further added) exposure last night. Nice!

These ladies added much needed color to the red carpet! Faith Evans was red hot in this pant suit with the accompanying fur. The singer walked the red carpet in this hot little number before she later hit the stage for the Bad Boys reunion, showing she’s still got it!

Meanwhile, Michelle Williams looked like a bag of money when she rocked this gorgeous olive green number from Herve Leger with matching clutch which we love so much! Definitely say to say that green looks good on you, Michelle!

Sevyn was a sight of fuchsia heaven in this Solace London outfit which paired with a Emilio Pucci sandals. Love it!

Winner: Faith Evans! Between Faith serving vintage fineness and 90’s street couture, we are here for it.

Karruche Tran was on her Zendaya tip and W-I-G, wigged it up last night! The actress and model gave us X-Men storm tease with this custom platinum blonde, white and silvery wig unit from Tokyo Stylez. We always knew Kae had it in her to pull off this look- remember when her and Chris were the perfect Storm and Wolverine for Halloween? Safe to say, Kae is definitely a risk taker!

Keyshia Cole had the blues- literally! The singer was blue from the bottom to the top in this ensemble, but noticeably so was her new-blue hair she’s been rocking for a couple weeks now. Last night, while presenting an award with good friend and singer, Monica Brown, Keyshia announced that she’d be dropping a new album later this year independently (and stressed the independently). Can’t wait to hear!

Winner: Karrueche! Keyshia’s fit may have featured just a little too much blue. Meanwhile Karrueche, took a huge risk with this platinum blonde wig by Tokyo Styles, and it surprisingly worked.

Brandy was every bit of stunning in her ‘fro last night! The singer and Broadway ‘Chicago’ star wore an awesomely flirty and skirty, Michael Costello black and silver mini dress, which she added a splash of color too with fuchsia pumps. Nice!

Singer Tori Kelly was a bundle of beach waves on the carpet as she completed her 60’s inspired mod-look with a leather mini dress and polka dot pumps. The singer slayed on the stage as she joined singers NeYo and Robin Thicke for the Smokey Robison tribute. Like seriously, she ate that!

Meanwhile, ‘drip drop’ dame and Empire star, Serayah McNeill wore this two piece top and skirt from the House of Li Jon. The actress and singer rocked her signature curly-haired look and fro, before hitting the stage with costars Yazz the Great and Jussie Smollet!

Winner: Brandy! She is the definition of fro and fabulous!

At the end of the day, all of these girls are without a doubt winners- and trophies- in their own right!

Which was your favorite look for the evening?
