However, among the key decisions made, were those related to the new Executive Committee that was elected. Following a rather close race, the party elected a new Chairman, in the person of Mr. Selwyn “Rusty” Liburd, who replaces Mr. Delara McClure Taylor, who served one term.
Due to another close race for Deputy Chairperson, between Mr. Jonel Powell and Dr. Charles Warner, the party took a rather unprecedented move to have both of them installed in the position because of the tied vote count.
The Treasurer and Assistant Secretary General, in the persons of Mr. Valentine Lindsay and Ms. Ryllis Percival, were re-elected; while Mr. Antonio Nias was chosen to serve as Public Relations Officer.
Parliamentarians Shawn Richards and Eugene Hamilton were returned as Deputy Political Leaders. There was no election for the National Political Leader; he, Mr. Lindsay Grant, already being elected in 2010 for a 3 year term that expires in 2013.
This was the 47th Delegates Convention (CAUCUS) hosted by the country’s main opposition party.
The full list of the Executive is as follows:
