The St. Kitts-Nevis opposition politician said his members are happy to extend heartiest congratulations to Kittitian son of the soil and distinguished legal luminary Sir Dennis Byron, on his august appointment as president of the Caribbean Court of Justice.
“In this latest appointment, Sir Dennis continues his legacy of flying the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis high, in the most esteemed circles and as a Kittitian and a lawyer, I am proud of his achievement” opined Political Leader Lawyer Lindsay Grant.
Grant continued, “The legal fraternity in St. Kitts and Nevis has been given a tremendous boost by this appointment which, again, broadcasts to the world the very high calibre of legal scholars that our tiny nation can produce.”
Sir Dennis has been a judge for nearly thirty years serving the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, from which he retired as Chief Justice as well as the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) from which he retired as president.
Over his eminent career, Sir Dennis has been recognized by his peers and colleagues here at home in the region as well as internationally for his outstanding contribution to the judiciary in general and judicial education in particular.
Sir Dennis is the older brother of People’s Action Movement Senator Vincent Byron Jr. and former Ambassador to the Republic of China on Taiwan, Mr. Terrance V. Byron.
A PAM release said that Sir Dennis has undoubtedly been the inspiration of the legal careers of both of his younger brothers.
