“We must be grateful to the Government and the People of Brazil as this development provides the basis for the continued improvement and expansion of the CARICOM/MERCUSOR relationship,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
He said St. Kitts and Nevis expects that an expansion in this enclave manufacturing sector, “will provide greater employment opportunities for our young men and women who have done so well over the years with their high quality products that have penetrated markets around the world and projected St. Kitts and Nevis as the largest exporter from the Eastern Caribbean to the United States.”
“That will be a most historic day for the Kittitian and Nevisian manufacturing sector which will now have the scope to access the huge Brazilian market with our electronic products manufactured here in St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Douglas has been personally informed by Brazil’s Resident Ambassador Miguel Magalhaes that a Brazilian official will be arriving shortly in Basseterre to sign off the conclusion of negotiations of the long awaited Partial Scope Agreement between St. Kitts and Nevis and Brazil.
