It was around 10:30am when the tales began surfacing on social media asserting that 27 year old Mikhail Liburd had succumbed to his wounds after being shot on Sunday, 12th January, while entering the home he shares with his father.
On Tuesday, Ian Liburd used his daily radio programme, “Straight Talk”, on Sugar City FM to give his listeners and supporters an update on his son, saying that he was in stable condition but remained hospitalized.
Despite that assurance on Tuesday, the rumours of Mikhail’s death still managed to make the day’s social media agenda of discussion on Wednesday. But while taking steps to denounce the rumours, the politician father stated that though he had been made aware of the rumours, he wished to say that “this is so far from the truth, so I want you to stop those rumours; so preach faith because he is alive and recovering as we speak. So those who are peddling those rumours on social media about the death of my son please be assured he is still alive and recovering at the JN France hospital.”
Police are continuing their investigations into the shooting and they have also indicated that they had arrested five persons in connection with the incident. They also recovered one pistol and ammunition from the scene and these are being used to help put their case together.
