Basseterre, Wednesday, 18th July, 2018, (MyVueNews.com) – The demonstrations have died down and the investigations have been intensified, and now the medical specialist has offered his findings to formally indicate what many had already suspected.
In an overnight statement, which perhaps was prompted by a question asked at Tuesday’s Prime Minister press conference in Basseterre, police authorities, as promised, have released the findings of the autopsy carried out by Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov, on the body of 20-year-old Tau Johnson.
Johnson was killed after tumbling from his motorcycle, in what some say was a police chase earlier this month.
Dr. Alexandrov concluded that Johnson’s death was as a result of acute internal blood loss due to a ruptured aorta sustained in the vehicular accident.
Johnson was involved in what police are calling “a fatal accident” on July 07, 2018 along Wellington Road.
Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley on Tuesday, (17th July), revealed that the “Police High Command recently launched a high-level investigation into Johnson’s death that occurred during the Police chase.”
The incident sparked public demonstrations with some calling for an independent investigation. Both the police and health authorities have launched separate investigations.
There were claims that Johnson was not given the professional care and attention by the emergency responders, leaving many to speculate on the real circumstances that eventually led to his death.
Two officers for the emergency unit have since been suspended pending the findings of the investigations being carried out by the Ministry of Health.
It was said that Johnson sped off on his motorcycle after being asked to stop by police.
