NEPAC will be named the “Michael H. Sutton Auditorium” in honor of the tremendous contribution that Michael Herald Sutton made to the musical and performing arts landscape on Nevis during his very short lifetime.
Manager of NEPAC, Mrs. Deslyn Williams-Johnson in her presentation spoke of the need to raise the bar with regards to the Performing Arts on Nevis as the occasion would be one that would seek to establish new standards for the performing arts on Nevis and in the Federation.
She further encouraged persons interested in the arts to step up to the challenge and to channel their talents through this new facility once it is opened.
Minister of Culture Hensley Daniel outlined the Nevis Island Administration’s commitment to the facility and indicated that the NIA invested large sums of monies during the construction phase to ensure that the building reached its present state of readiness so that we can now witness the opening of this major National landmark.
The facility, which has a 400-seating capacity, was designed by architect John Baker of St Maarten based IXI Designs and the construction was done by Surrey Paving of Jamaica.
