PM Douglas warns: Keep your hands off Labour’s political material

Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas, who was at the time making several remarks about the upcoming elections and other issues, said that it was recently brought to his attention that several campaign posters in constituency #7 were torn down by supporters of the “opposition”.

“I want to also commend Dr. Vance Gilbert for the calmness, responsible and very caring way he has gone about dealing with the issue,” Prime Minister Douglas said on his weekly radio programme ‘Ask the Prime Minister’.

Douglas, who sounded ‘annoyed’ by the incident, further stated that he was the first politician to have made the incident public, adding, “I am doing it, because I am warning those who are following Dr. Harris.”

The Prime Minister further noted that a report on the incident has already been forwarded to the police, which also has issued a strict warning to those who were/and will be a part of the demolition exercises.

Douglas, who expressed his displeasure and disappointment of the involvement of residents from constituency #7 warned the offending individuals.

“Keep your hands off Labour’s political material that is being erected… I warn you, as we have been making complaints to the police over the last few weeks. Do not provoke any kind of unnecessary disturbance,” Douglas warned.

But it was just two days before Douglas’ warning that constituency #7 parliamentary representative Dr. Timothy Harris, in Cayon on Sunday (January 11th), accused Dr. Douglas of a scheme to remove his posters in the district.

Harris, on that very same platform, also issued a warning to Labour supporters in constituency #7 about the tearing down of posters from Team Unity.

The politician then accused Dr. Douglas of “telling someone” from the district to “pull down posters” that belong to the Team Unity leader.

“I told them Vance Gilbert (Labour’s candidate) has up more posters than what votes he is going to get. I just laughing at the calamity they have in number seven,” Dr. Harris stated.
