The most recent police reports have revealed that six persons have been charged for both drug and illegal firearm possession.
According to the report, on 8th Wednesday December 2010 at approximately 11:40 pm police at the Basseterre Police Station formally arrested and charged two (2) men from Sandy Point – without a warrant – for possession of cannabis, an offence which was committed on the said date at the Frigate Bay Beach Strip.
The accused persons are Vincent Warner Jr. (25) of The Alley, Sandy Point, and Sean Buchanan (26) of Farms Housing Development, Sandy Point.
At approximately 10:25 am on Thursday 9th December both Warner and Buchanan were bailed in the like sum of EC$10,000.00 to secure their appearance at the date of their trial. Investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, on Thursday 9th December 2010 at approximately 10:00 am police officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit were conducting a routine patrol in the Newtown area when they arrested two (2) Newtown males on suspicion of firearm and crack cocaine possession.
The two (2) men were taken to the Basseterre Police Station and police also took the quantity of crack cocaine and one .40 mm PT Taurus Mellennium PRO semi-automatic pistol and ten (10) rounds of .40 mm ammunition for further analysis.
Then at approximately 3:15 pm the police formally arrested and charged the two (2) men – without a warrant – for Possession of Crack Cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of firearm and ammunition.

The seized illegal firearm brings the total number of illegal firearms seized by police for 2010 to 43.
The police are objecting to bail and if the court finds favour with their grounds for objecting then both accused would be remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison where they will await.
Investigations into this mater are ongoing.
