“In the aftermath of the unfortunate incident at Brimstone Hill it is a relief to be able to celebrate an achievement of our besieged police force. I am sure that I can speak for the nation when I offer congratulations to the hardworking officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force on the promptness with which they have been able to bring persons of interest concerning the robbery into police custody.
“It is only fair, when our police officers who have to perform yeoman efforts without the resources they need and under difficult circumstances, nevertheless deliver a stellar performance that we are quick to confer well deserved praise.”
The Opposition party leader also expressed the hope that the expeditious apprehension of suspects in this widely publicized case will give hope to the citizens and victims of crimes over the last few years who are yet to receive justice in their respective matters.
“I am certain that this performance gives hope to the hundreds of local victims who are waiting for justice even long after losing the hope of recovering their property,” said Grant.
Grant noted that this incident demonstrates that the police are capable of achieving great things, once the public and the government throw their support behind them.
“Our police force has shown what can be achieved when they receive the government and public support they so desperately need and how much it behooves the government and all of us to offer this support.”
The PAM representative for Constituency Number Four went on to encourage the police and all security forces and expressed a desire for a swift conclusion to the matter.
“I look forward to an expedited and successful conclusion to this matter and the removal of at least this small number of robbers from the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis where they have perhaps preyed on many locals…I encourage our police officers to continue to serve and protect as best as they could under the circumstances and to assure them that they have the support of the majority of their fellow citizens in their too often thankless and difficult job.”
In a Police Press Release on Tuesday afternoon, (16th November), hours before a National Security press conference on the tourist robbery, police announced that following a number of operations in the Sandy Point area in the early hours of the morning, four persons of interest in the robbery were taken into custody and a number of items were seized.
